What a wonderful end to the Autumn term we have had! We hope you have enjoyed all the festive activities held over the past couple of weeks.
You will have no doubt noticed the beautiful Christmas wreath on the front of the School building, once again created and donated by The Flower Stand Battersea. This year they have also kindly provided the School Office with a Christmas tree which will be moved into our Forest School for some fun activities in the New Year.

All the staff at Grayswood CE Primary School would like to wish our pupils and their families a magical Christmas break, and we look forward to seeing the children back on Wednesday 3rd January 2024!

Christmas Performances
Our extremely talented children have completely wowed us all with their Nativity and Carol Concert performances this past couple of weeks.
They have all put in such a tremendous effort to perfect their lines and songs - we are incredibly proud of them all.
Thank you to the parents, grandparents and siblings for coming to join us- we hope you enjoyed it too!

Annual Christmas Lunch Fun
Our lucky children were treated to a magnificent Christmas feast last week, complete with plenty of crackers and Christmas music.
The annual Grayswood Christmas Lunch has become a real highlight of the school year for many children, and Michael in the kitchen does such a wonderful job. Thank you Michael!
Please remember to make your lunch selections for the first week back by the 26th December.

Prayer Space
On Wednesday 6th December, each class took time out of their busy schedules to head over to the church to take part in another Prayer Space.
Each activity was carefully thought out by the Worship Team and Miss Harling to allow everyone to reflect on the real meaning of Christmas and the Nativity story.
One of the stations was to think about 'gifts'. The Wise Men gave gifts of Frankincense, Myrrh and Gold so we thought about what each of our special gifts are. It was wonderful to read about the many talents we have at Grayswood school.

|
Another station made us think about The Shepherds. God chose to share the news of Jesus’ birth with shepherds who were looking after their sheep. Shepherds were the least important in society, but they were the first people God chose to tell. We wrote a Christmas Card to someone who in society might be forgotten or needs some Christmas cheer!
The teachers commented what a wonderful opportunity this was to pause and reflect and how well-behaved and thoughtful the children were.

Kites Field Trip
As part of their Geography unit this half term, Year 6 carried out a fieldwork study on Tuesday 5th December.
They explored the question 'How is population impacting our environment?' and took specific measurements regarding traffic and noise pollution, as well as asking a few questions to members of the public.
Thank you to our wonderful parent helpers for their time on the day, and for helping us complete the walk back to school before the rain came!

Wrens Theatre Trip
Our Reception Class had an exciting trip to the theatre this month, having the chance to watch a live version of the ever-popular book, Dear Santa.
The trip was a huge hit; the class were fully engrossed in the show, and we think our Wrens children definitely deserve an award for audience participation. The class were beautifully behaved, and it was a truly magical experience enjoyed by all. Thank you to the parent helpers who volunteered their time.

Reindeer Run
Our annual Christmas Run took place yesterday, to raise money for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care.
As has become tradition, children and teachers donned festive headwear to complete as many laps as possible of the field next door at Grayswood House.
Our thanks to our neighbours, the Shaw family at Grayswood House, for their continued support of the school and our sporting events.

Thank you everyone who was able to make it to the Grayswood School Christmas Fair 2023.
We raised over £2000 for the school with a few little bits still to be counted. A fantastic effort!
We hope you enjoyed a festive meal deal, had some wins on Tombola and maybe got a gift at the Toy Grotto. Or maybe you got some shopping done at the Top Up Your Christmas Shops…
Thank you for supporting our lovely school and see you same time, same place next year! Put 30/11/24 in your diary right now!
