Attendance
Regular attendance at school promotes pupils’ well-being and gives them the best chance of learning and reaching their potential. Pupils should attend school every day the school is open unless the reason for the absence is unavoidable. Grayswood CE Primary School will strive to provide a welcoming, caring environment, whereby each member of the school community feels wanted and secure. All school staff will work with pupils and their families to ensure each pupil attends school regularly and punctually.
Is my child too ill for school? is a useful reference point for parents to refer to to aid judgements.
Pupil Absence
During term-time, your child should attend school every day unless:
- he or she is ill; or
- our school has authorised their absence
The school requires a telephone message from the parent or carer before 9:30am on the morning of the first day of ANY pupil absence.
As detailed in our Attendance Policy, and in line with DfE guidance, Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.
An up-to-date copy of our Attendance policy can be found under the School Policies section.
